Nathan Clay was first introduced to alphas 6 years ago when he escorted [[Marcus Ayers]] to Dr. [[Vijal Singh]]. to drive to one of the dr.'s facility in the present. After Marcus escapes from an ambulance him and his men are on the spot and investigate the scene. He, unlike [[Dr. Rosen]], wanted to kill Ayers and has his agents follow Rosen to the same building Marcus damaged 6 years in a fire to either capture or kill Marcus but fails. Rosen thinks Clay is the chess king after Dr. Singh is killed, believing this purposely walks unarmed as bait to lure Ayers out. However this doesn't happen as he abducted Rosen and brought him to a bridge to talk. Rosen tries convince his team to not shoot Ayers when they get to the bridge and shoots Marcus anyway. Marcus falls in to the water below and despite the enormous height could be still alive
 
   
In the following episode Clay and his men guard [[Matthew Hurley]] at the [[Binghamton Special Research Facility]] after Hurley was caught. He talks with Rosen on Wilson's death.
